Sarband's Satie

When it comes to music there is really only one way of telling what I love and that is how it makes me feel. If the music can pull me out of my head in a whirl pool of heart vibrations then I know I found what works for me.

Close to the ultimate feeling of what I just described is Sarband’s interpretation of Satie’s medieval chansons and danse gothique. It is hard to put in words, but for me listening to these songs moves me into the essence of humanity. Yes, this is quite the statement but the sensation goes straight into a timeless, ageless and borderless space in the heart.

I mean, just hearing Satie in its orginial form brings tears to my eyes. Sarband adds an 'early music' primal touch to it. And I believe this is what makes you feel you're on a vibrating journey through the history of man. Linking us back to our ancestors like nothing else.

On the ensemble’s website I read about artistic director Vladimir Ivanoff’s call for tolerance and understanding between cultures. I am not suprised! He is making us realise, no more than that, he is making us feel deep inside that we are one.

I am humbled by the power of music. And cannot wait to go see them perform some day.
